Background


Since 1969, our firm has been providing quality, personalized financial guidance to local individuals and businesses. We prepare Individual, Partnership, LLC, Corporations, Trust and Estate Tax returns. Our expertise include tax planning strategies for individuals, business, estates and trust, tax preparation, and accounting services. We have three Enrolled Agents on our staff.

Our Mission Statement

Enrolled Agents

An Enrolled Agent (EA) is an individual who has demonstrated technical competence in the field of taxation. Enrolled Agents, or EAs, can represent taxpayers before all administrative levels of the Internal Revenue Service.

"Enrolled" means EAs are licensed by the federal government. "Agent" means EAs are authorized to appear on behalf of the taxpayer at the Internal Revenue Service. Only EAs, attorneys and CPAs may represent taxpayers before the IRS.

Henry C "Bud" Klein, EA

Henry C. "Bud" Klein has been preparing taxes since 1969. He passed an intensive two-day IRS examination in 1976 to become an Enrolled Agent, and thus is able to represent taxpayers at all levels of the IRS up to US Tax Court. He has been an active member of the National Association of Enrolled Agents at both the national and state level. He was chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Association of Enrolled Agents Educational Foundation, and was recognized as Tax Educator of the Year in 1993. He helped found the Hawaii Society of Enrolled Agents in 1985, and served as its president for the first 10 years of its existence. He continues to be active in the organization. By completing a rigorous educational program, he was appointed a Fellow in the National Tax Practice Institute in 1989. He has degrees from Princeton University, Rutgers University and Wayne State University.

Bud is active in church and community affairs in Honolulu. In his free time, he enjoys listening and participating in choral music programs. He is married, father of three, and has 5 grandchildren.

Kathryn A. "Kathy" Moore, EA

Kathryn "Kathy" Moore has been preparing taxes since 1986. She passed a rigorous, two-day examination before the Internal Revenue Service in 1988 to become an Enrolled Agent, and thus is able to represent taxpayers at all levels of the IRS up to US Tax Court. She jointed the National Association of Enrolled Agents in 1989, and has been active in the Hawaii Society of Enrolled Agents, and is currently sits on their board as Treasurer. She completed National Association of Enrolled Agents’ high level educational program in the National Tax Practice Institute, and became a Fellow in that organization in 1992. She has a Bachelor of Business Administration - Finance degree from the University of Hawaii.

Kathy is very supportive of the arts and education of Hawaii. She is an active member of her church and enjoys spending time with her husband and three children.

Abraham "Abe" Kanamu, Jr.

Abe Kanamu has been preparing taxes since 1990 and joined our firm in 2008. He is currently working towards becoming an Enrolled Agent. He has a Bachelor of Business Administration - Accounting degree and a Masters degree in Accounting from the University of Hawaii.



 



Nancy A. Granborg, EA, CTFA

Nancy Granborg, EA, CTFA is a former Hawaiian Trust trust officer, with many years experience in trusts and estates. She is our resident expert on Trust and Estate Tax returns. She joined the National Association of Enrolled Agents in 1981, and has been active in the Hawaii Society of Enrolled Agents and the California Society of Enrolled Agents.

Nancy is an avid skiier and spends most of her time in her home in Incline Village near Lake Tahoe.

Elaine C. Hoffman, Office Manager

Elaine Hoffman has been our Office Manager for over 19 years...and the owner of the cheery voice on the telephone! She is also our Notary Public.

 



Jessica M. Studdert

Jessica Studdert is our staff accountant who does our write up work and payroll services for our clients. She has been with our firm for almost 2 years. She has over 8 years of experience in accounting and finance. She has a Bachelor of Science Finance degree from the Marriott School of Management, Brigham Young University.
Jessica is married and has one child. She loves the outdoors and playing tennis.
